They thought it wouldn't happen in Portugal by putting names on the tickets and saying you had to take your passport to the game but as always it didn't work. It's impossible to police the sale of tickets, the touts prove that every weekend.

Same here - I never win anything :(

One thing I will say thou is that people get ripped off easily - you can get tix for a lot cheper off touts than you think. Remember that it is there job to sell not yours to buy! This thread is pretty useful - especially the post from ted and pig.

Many touts make shed loads on the first lot they sell then have some left over as the game kicks off and they then have to get rid of then v quickly!

Yep but wouldnt go overboard on the price - there are usually tix left when the game kicks off which they need to get rid of quick, hence the price comes down!

that's true have known people brave enough to wait till kick off and have got tickets from touts at face value or just above. Good luck to all in the draw. :)

Personally, I hate the touts......

Why dont we all bid up to silly prices on all the tickets on eBay, then not bother to pay at all?

I just wish I could see their faces when they think they have made a fortune......then nobody pays!

That way, they may be more available cheaper when they start to panic!

I have already opened a couple of eBay acounts to bid the prices up, just wish I could see their faces when they think they have made a fortune......then nobody pays!

And the people bidding on the tickets....what happens to them after you ruin the auction? They will just move on to the next auction, won't they? That in turn will drive up the price, so people will pay MORE than they originally would have.

Well, thats possible, but I expect that unless you are rich you will not pay upwards of 600 Euros for any of the matches in the first stage.

I just cannot see it happening. My personal experience with tickets like these is that the prices will drop very quickly when it gets near enough to the match date.

The touts will panic, as they dont want to be stuck with tickets that nobody will pay these ridiculous prices. Only last yearthe same thing happened in York where I live. Royal Ascot was held at york, and months/year before it started, the tickets went the same way as this. Touts were quickly snapping up as many tickets as they could get, even booking hotels, planes, trains etc.

All these were listed on eBay for huge mark-ups.

The days approached and the media reported that thousands of people who thought they could make a fast buck were out of pocket, as nobody would pay their silly prices. One guy who had even booked flights/rail tickets, lost over 100,000.

His own fault for being greedy and trying to rip people off. Wait and see, but nobody will pay these silly prices. Granted they may go for 200-300 Euro, but not what they are trying to get at the moment.
