I am way to hung over to argue, its really a tautology soccer and football isnt it ? For a country that has 20million odd people give us a break champ.

U want to bag out australia and tell us how crap we are , knock yourself out champ. We are a proud nation just like england. Just goes to show how mature you really are to think you are so much better than other nations.

I have many lad mates from Liverpool , leeds and bristal but it is people like yourself that bag out other nations and refer them as CRAP and full of it , that it really goes to show your true character champ.Hope you enjoy the cup mate cause no doubt the aussie will all be there enjoying the moment even if it is another 32yrs before we get there again , we are there now.

HAHAHA... mate the English need to chill out... get over it boys... You lot typed up about 500 words each on the subject - how long have you been saving that rant up? Australia's the best country in the world - and we've definitely got that over you...

See you all at the campground lads! Keep smiling fellas...

Hello champ, I think you will invariably find that it's Australians who have an over-inflated opinion of themselves epecially with regards to their sporting success, real or imagined, moreover against the mother country which Aussies take every opportunity to knock whenever possible! So don't give me any lectures about maturity mate! I lived in London for 2 years (with Australians) and I've met lots on my travels around the world so I know what I'm talking about. As soon as you've had a few drinks all that hostility towards England that has builit up over the past 2 centuries because of your criminal roots comes flowing out and we here all this bullshit about how great Oz is and how crap England is, which by the way is absolute bollocks. Now that we are on the ascendency in all forms of sport whether cricket, rugby, rugby league or football you lot should remember the old english proverb 'if you can't take it don't give it'.
Get well soon champ!

oh man... you have to understand the concept of friendly banter... I'm sitting here with a smile on my face knowing it's all jokes and I don't really give a shit about it because I'm only on this site to talk about football and the WC in general - but I can imagine you getting red in the face as you pound away at your keyboard defending your country's honour. Yeh... you do need to grow up or have a few beers or something...chill out man - don't get so worked up! Sorry if I insulted you but if you read the first post (where this clearly all started) I said it was a joke straight away - and instead of you coming back with little things about Australia losing the Ashes or the Rugby World Cup - it was big essay's about it - like you've all been waiting your whole lives to get it out! Well I'm glad to have provided an outlet for your frustrations - now can we all please get over it?

Well Beckyboo, I agree with you wholehearedly it just a bit of friendly banter. Believe me I havne'nt been pounding away at the keyboard like a madman and I'm certainly not stressed. In fact I could'nt be more chilled, I've got a TST for all the England games, hotels booked for the England matches and I'm off to the party capital of Spain in 2 weeks to live it up for 3 months up until the world cup! But that sentence about Oz being the best country in the world... please, you might have a lot of sunshine but what you don't have is history or culture, which are far more important! Keep your peckers up and see you at the campsite. !hasta luego muchachos! :D

Here mate u said it... thats where austrialia wins hands down cos its' history isnt stained with the blood of thousands in countries that cover the world. If your history was something to be proud of then i guess u could use that in an argument but its actually your country's biggest stick with which it beats itself!
People who dont like your country will do so because of things that your country have done throughout the years to them. Not because one day they woke up and thought to themselves i'll start hating the english today!!

As for culture... well i would say that the aussies have that over u too. With the aboriginals to bondi beach they have a range of cultures that they can call austrialian. What excactly is english culture?

You know something else im not even having a go... just simply stating the facts that are widely regarded as history and culture. But the nonesense that u seem to actually believe is hypocritical at best and at worst ignorant and zenaphobic. :D

i have just about had a bellyful of comments from people such as yourself, simple fact is we dont look to gain any satisfaction from your downfalls or shortcomings, unlike the people who support scotland,n.ireland, wales or australia, who love to see england fail at anything and everything regardless of if they are involved or not,i put it down to a inferiority complex, as in they feel like they have something to prove for all those years of english rule, personally i dont give a shit about what happened centuries ago, its what happens now that matters,we are all human beings after all.apart from which, anybody who goes on about bieng xenophobic and cant even spell it in the correct way, doesnt deserve to be taken seriously at all.

if thats the only bone u can pick with that then i guess i'll learn how to spell xenophobic. Its not a word i'm used to .

but if u keep putting people down then they will bite back and there are people who love to see england fail at everything, but there are even more who just laugh at the fact that u have always thought that u had a world beating team and watching up blow up everytime - nearly always from the inside out!!

But it actually doesnt matter what u think... or me for that matter cos those people will continue to think the way they do as safcineurope said -'history or culture, which are far more important!'

history is very important because u are judged on how u have treated people not how u treat people now - so i guess u have no one to blame anymore. ah well.

that post sums up everything i was outlining in the previous post, except even better as it comes from the type of person i was on about, i.e northern irish! And as for your last pearls of wisdom around history and the present, very immature and badly thought out as therefore are we to take it that you hold berni responsible for the holocaust, just because hes german and its a part of germany's history, you might think about what you post next time eh?the words small minded and bigot spring to mind.

Well, if there is one thing I'm not it's xenophobic. I've just spent over a year living in the US, living with a German (supposedly our worst enemy) in San Francisco. I lived in NYC with African Americans and Peruvians. I lived in Spain for a year with Argentinians (again people the English are supposed to hate) and Scandanavians. I speak Spanish and I had a Spanish girlfriend for nearly 3 years and I'm going to live in Valencia for 3 months in a couple of weeks time. I've been to loads of countries travelling and seeing England play. As for what my mate from Barnsley said I could'nt agree more. Everybody hates us not just because of all the countries we conqured and subjegated including yours probably but because of our culture as well.it;s jealousy pure and simple. As far as history and culture is concerned it's a simple fact that England has had more influence on the world than any other country. If you can't take it that's your problem!

Safcineurope : I to have lived overseas also.. Serbia / croatia / bosnia / Cambodia/ South africa.Ever since childhood i have been educated on world events and the impact it has had on others. You seem like an ok guy champ really. Think about the less fortunate for once and not how good your country is and how much influence it has had in world events.I assure u i am not jealous. Where was this great mother england and the US when MILLIONS were being murdered in Bonsia/serbia/croatia ? No you sat back and watched it happen. Wasnt in your interest right? I saw it happen you have no idea.People hate things they have seen with no resolution or cause, watched families murdered due to religous beliefs, colour of skin, live in a different border. When people like you become excepting of EVERYONE the world may be a better place. You still think your nation is superier to others and you have traveled around the world , did you learn anything ? Over it champ.Later.

Well for a start I did'nt sit back and do nothing, over the past few years I've been to plenty of anit-war demos and been to lots of anit-British/US establishment talks to listen to people like Tony Benn, Noam Chomsky, John Pilger, Naomi Klein and numerous others. You'd be hard pressed to find anybody more anti British and US foreing policy than me and some of my friends! Unlike most people I realise what the war in the former Yugolsavia and the wars in Afghanistan, Iraq and the forthcoming war in Iran are all about, they are about geo-politics and hegemony pure and simple. This fake war on terror is just a pretext to invade/subjugate countries that don't do what they are told, some of them who were once our friends and allies when we were selling them weapons of mass destruction and now that they don't bend to our will they suddenly become terrorist states! One of my best mates has just gone to Venezuela to work for a human rights organsiation, working with the Hugo Chavez government which is a shining example to the rest of the Latin American world and other countries for that matter who are telling the US Neo-cons to fxxk right off! Enough said, now we can all get back to the football banter!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D

safcineurope we have actually more in common than separates us but the fact that u think that england has had tyhe biggest influence on the world than any other country shows the root of the english's problem. U seem to think that the world owe u as a result. The rest of the world actually think the opposite - that england should be doing more to see the wrongs of history corrected - and there are many.
Now u seem like a smart guy and we are both at the same end of the political spectrum - look for the cuba flag and u will find me at the campsite! But that comment about the holocaust was out of order and trying to put words into my moutgh. I was making the point that u will be judged by your country's history - as u were comparing the 'grand' history of the 'empire' with the 'criminal' history of austrilia! I for one am suprised that after reading the last few posts from yourself that u would cling onto this imperialist stance given your anti-imperialist background - something that i'm glad you have shared with us because it shows you personally in a different light to the neandrethal empty heads that do you no good abroad.

Now that we have addressed that - i'm happy to move onto sporting matters.
